LUX FURNITURE - E-Commerce Checkout Page Design
This is the checkout page design for a luxury furniture brand called LUX FURNITURE.
The design embodies the following principles and decisions:
Simplicity:
We've minimized labels, placeholders, and content, requesting only essential information. This brevity prevents overwhelming the user and reduces drop-off rates.
Accessibility:
Clear labels and CTA buttons are marked with different states, captions, and colors to signify when they're disabled, enabled, or encountering an error. Contrast criteria and size adhere to AAA accessibility standards according to WCAG 3. Throughout the process, there's a clear contrast between black, white, and beige.
Visual Hierarchy:
Headers, varying text sizes, and consistent iconography guide users through each step of the checkout process. The 'Continue' option empowers users to control their progress. Labels are displayed in a lighter black when information needs to be filled and in solid black when filled. Buttons remain disabled until all necessary information is provided, offering immediate visual feedback.
Clear Progression:
The checkout process is straightforward, allowing users to proceed once items are added to the cart or at their convenience. A process bar accompanies users, indicating their current step. A summary card on the right displays the selected items and final price. Upon completion, users receive a confirmation message confirming their order.
The design prioritizes elegance and simplicity to minimize drop-off rates during checkout. Colors and icons are subtly integrated yet clearly distinguishable throughout the process.

Good color palet, I really like this reminder of the items chosen, and the reminder of the different specifications just below the pay button, which is still the main action.
Excellent choice, too, to keep the location consistent, with progress actions always on the left, and this experience of steps that guides the user throughout the experience!
One point of improvement to make this project perfect would be better iteration on the promo code application page, where the elements seem a little disconnected.
Good work
You've done a great job with the checkout process! It’s simple, intuitive, and straightforward—neither too lengthy nor overwhelming. The choice of a color palette is particularly well-suited for a furniture shop, with browns and beiges conveying trust, stability, and a warm sense of home.
What can be improved:
- Improve spacing. Some sections, like the shopping cart preview, feel a bit overcrowded.
- Prefill data. It’s currently a bit unclear whether this checkout flow is designed for registered users or new ones. For registered users you can streamline the process by pre-filling the delivery information and simplify the process for them.
- Adding icons for success and error feedback, in addition to color cues (currently blue and red) can provide a better understanding. Solely relying on color could exclude users with various types of color blindness.
Aside from these points, I truly enjoyed your work!
