Bookly - Onboarding Assignment

As part of this Uxcel Design Brief, I've taken a deep dive into refining the mobile onboarding experience of a new from scratch concept called Bookly, a platform within the AI, digital library, and book discovery sectors. This project focused on enhancing the initial user interaction by meticulously addressing the typical hurdles found in mobile app onboarding. My endeavour was to craft an onboarding flow that's not just intuitive and engaging but also deeply meaningful, meticulously following the best practices in mobile UI & UX design.

Addressing User Onboarding Friction Points:

In crafting Bookly’s onboarding flow, my focus was on:

• Simplifying the registration process to avoid overwhelming new users.
• Ensuring the onboarding flow is engaging and informs users about the value Bookly offers, making the first experience memorable and straightforward.
• Introducing a level of personalization from the get-go, which allows for a more tailored experience, encouraging users to engage with the app right from the start.

Design Insights and Decisions:

The design choices for Bookly were made with user-centric principles at the forefront:

• I employed a minimalistic approach to both the registration process and the introductory guides, ensuring users are not deterred by complexity or information overload.
• The visual design, including the color scheme and typography, was selected to create a fun and inviting environment, encouraging exploration and interaction.
• Personalisation is introduced through interactive elements early in the onboarding process, allowing users to see the immediate value of the app tailored to their interests.

Prototype and Presentation:

The interactive prototype of Bookly showcases the onboarding flow, demonstrating its intuitiveness and ease of use. It serves as a direct testament to the effectiveness of the design decisions, offering stakeholders and users alike a glimpse into the thoughtful user journey crafted for Bookly. This is a 100% end to end prototype with every single element functional & interactive across every screen.

Reflection and Purpose:

This project is a response to the Uxcel brief, showcasing my ability to identify, analyze, and design solutions for common onboarding issues within the mobile app industry. Bookly’s onboarding flow is a showcase of practical UX design principles in action, designed to meet the needs of users while fulfilling specific design tasks.
