Twitch Redesign
Twitch Redesign Ideas
Enhancements:
- Autoplay Off: By default, autoplay is turned off for logged-in users. This respects user preferences and reduces intrusive experiences, allowing users to have more control over their viewing habits.
- Streamlined Homepage: Instead of overwhelming users with multiple recommended videos, only one recommended video is displayed at the top of the homepage. This reduces clutter and helps users focus on the most relevant content.
- Reorganized Sidebar: The sidebar is reorganized with expandable accordion menus for "Friends" and "Followers" options. This provides users with quick access to their social connections without cluttering the interface.
- Recommended Categories: Introduce recommended categories based on user preferences and viewing history. This helps users discover new content aligned with their interests, improving engagement and retention.
- Dark Mode: Implement a dark mode option that can be easily toggled on the sidebar. Dark mode reduces eye strain and provides a more comfortable viewing experience, especially during nighttime browsing sessions.
- Search Bar on Navbar: Move the search bar to the navbar for improved accessibility and visibility. Users can quickly search for specific channels, videos, or categories without having to navigate to a separate page.
- Decreased Pre-roll Ads: Conduct research to identify user pain points, such as pre-roll ads. Decrease the frequency of pre-roll ads to enhance user satisfaction and retention.
- Collapsible Sidebar: Make the sidebar collapsible to give users more control over their viewing space. This allows users to expand or collapse the sidebar based on their preferences, maximizing the viewing area for content.
Quick Competitive Analysis:
- Strengths: By addressing user pain points such as autoplay, overwhelming homepage layouts, and pre-roll ads, Twitch can differentiate itself from competitors. Implementing features like dark mode and collapsible sidebars enhances user experience and sets Twitch apart as a platform that prioritizes user preferences and comfort.
- Weaknesses: Twitch may face challenges in implementing these changes seamlessly while maintaining platform stability and revenue generation. Balancing user experience improvements with advertising revenue may require careful consideration and testing to ensure a positive outcome for both users and the platform.

One of the main points that, in my opinion, deserves to be highlighted in your work was that you were careful to respect the relationship between the proactivity of the application and the personal space of the person using the application.
This is very important today, as certain behaviors that could lead people to do things they do not intend to do should be avoided. (perfect vs. conscious experience)
Regarding not showing all the videos, right from the start, this thought is in accordance with the principle of choice paralysis. Very good!
The Advertising that appears before the video is a controversial point, as it is a classic argument between business goals vs user experience. But I agree with you that decreasing could be beneficial.
Dark mode is nice, since a lot of people watch twitch at night.
excellent work!
