Clipnest is a concept for a modern, community-driven video streaming platform where entertainment meets connection.

Built around the idea that people crave not just content, but shared experiences, Clipnest blends the familiarity of popular streaming services with smart social features that bring people together — even if they’re oceans apart.

This project explores a clean, dark UI with a fresh Clipnest green colour palette, custom-designed icons, genre-based categorisation, and seamless user interaction.

Key Features Include:

  • A dashboard that prioritises both personalisation and discoverability
  • Genre-based content rows with custom thumbnails and icons
  • An interactive notification system and chat interface
  • Custom branding and logo for an original product identity
  • Fully responsive prototype for desktop (mobile in progress)

The platform encourages interaction without pressure — with watch parties, pseudonymous profiles, and interest-based groups, Clipnest creates a space for real connection, one clip at a time.

All media covers shown are used as placeholders for concept purposes only.

Hi Marina,

I had the pleasure of diving into your Clipnest project on Uxcel, and I’m genuinely excited by the direction you’ve taken. The concept of creating a community-focused video streaming platform that fosters social interaction while maintaining a sleek, user-friendly interface is both timely and relevant. You’ve tapped into something that feels like the natural next step for how we consume and share content.

🌟 What I Love About Your Work

1. A Clear Understanding of the User’s Needs:

Right from the landing page to the dashboard, your design choices reflect an awareness of how users engage with streaming platforms. You’ve made it easy for people to discover new content while also offering personalization, which is crucial in today’s sea of endless video options.

2. Social Features Feel Natural, Not Forced:

Features like watch parties, pseudonymous profiles, and interest-based groups strike a perfect balance between social interaction and privacy. It allows users to connect in ways they’re comfortable with, without the overwhelm that sometimes comes with social features on content platforms.

3. Clean Visual Aesthetic:

The dark UI theme, punctuated with that vibrant Clipnest green, gives off modern, premium vibes. It feels like a space that’s designed for long sessions without causing eye fatigue—a smart move. The custom icons and genre-based categories are thoughtful touches that make the experience feel cohesive and polished.

💡 Suggestions to Build on This Strong Foundation

1. Expand the User Journey with Additional Pages:

To make Clipnest feel like a fully realized product, consider adding a few more key pages:

  • Onboarding/Personalization Flow:
  • Guide new users through a quick setup where they select genres, interests, or social preferences. This would help tailor their dashboard from the get-go and improve engagement.
  • Content Details Page:
  • Design a video detail page that includes things like episode descriptions, cast info, user reviews, or related content suggestions. This can deepen the content discovery experience.
  • User Profile & Settings Page:
  • Give users control over their preferences, watch history, group memberships, and privacy settings. This page can reinforce the sense of ownership over their experience.
  • Group/Community Pages:
  • Since Clipnest emphasizes interest-based groups, showing how those group spaces look and function (discussion threads, shared content, event invites for watch parties) could really round out the social side of the platform.
  • Notifications & Messaging:
  • Consider how notifications (e.g., “Your group is starting a watch party”) and messaging between users might be integrated without feeling intrusive.

2. Accessibility Enhancements:

While the dark theme is visually appealing, make sure you’re meeting contrast standards for text and icons. It’s also worth noting how screen readers or keyboard navigation might interact with your design—this would ensure Clipnest is inclusive and enjoyable for a wider audience.

3. Explore Micro-Interactions:

Adding hover states, subtle transitions, or even loading animations in the future could help bring your design to life and give it that extra layer of polish that makes platforms feel premium.

✨ Final Thoughts

Marina, Clipnest feels like a platform that people would genuinely want to spend time on—not just for the content, but for the shared experience. You’ve built a foundation that balances entertainment and connection, which isn’t easy to pull off.

By expanding on the user journey with more pages and layering in those extra details like onboarding, profiles, and group dynamics, you can elevate this from a solid concept to a comprehensive product experience. Your vision is clear, your execution is thoughtful, and I’m really excited to see where you take this next!

Keep up the great work—I’ll be cheering you on!

Clipnest has a promising idea at its core. The concept of watch parties, interest-based groups, and light social interaction could really set it apart in a crowded space. But right now, the execution doesn’t do the concept justice...

The project is presented as a single Figma page, which feels incomplete. It’s unclear whether the layout is supposed to scroll or be fixed, and there’s no clear navigation or user journey shown. For a platform built around interaction and exploration, showing only one screen makes it hard to understand how users would actually move through the product or interact with its core features.

Visually, the dark UI and green colour accent give it a modern look, but a lot of the visual design feels underdeveloped. The icons, for example, don’t appear to be part of the same visual family, and some of them look pixelated, which suggests they’re being used as image files instead of vectors. Switching to SVG icons, ideally from a consistent set like Material Icons, would instantly improve the clarity and cohesiveness of the UI.

Typography is another area that needs attention. The entire page uses Be Vietnam Pro in the same weight, and only size is used to create hierarchy. This makes the interface feel flat and hard to scan. Mixing in different font weights (like bold for headers, regular for body text) would help create a much clearer information structure and make the content easier to digest.

Functionally, there are also issues. It’s not immediately obvious what’s interactive — for instance, the hover or selected state on the film tiles is barely visible. Something as central as selecting content should be obvious at a glance. Right now, it takes too much effort to figure out that The Godfather is selected, which isn’t great UX.

Lastly, the Figma file itself is quite disorganised. Layers and groups are named generically (like "Group 1", "Frame 2", etc.), and there’s a lot of unnecessary nesting. This makes it really hard to work with, especially if this were to be handed off to a team. Auto layout is present but doesn’t seem to be used meaningfully, and overall, it gives the impression that the file was rushed or not structured with order in mind.

To move this project forward, I’d recommend:

  • Expanding the UI beyond one page to show navigation, flows, or interaction scenarios.
  • Cleaning up the Figma file: clear layer names, logical structure, proper use of auto layout.
  • Improving icon consistency and switching to vector assets.
  • Introducing real visual hierarchy in typography through weight and spacing, not just size.
  • Reworking interaction states (hover, selected, etc.) so they’re obvious and intuitive.

There’s definitely a solid concept underneath this, but it needs a lot more refinement in both visual design and UX thinking to feel like a complete, professional product.

If you need further notes on how to improve it, you can text me. And if you upload a reedited version of the project, pin me so I can check out the improvements :)
