A cutdown of some of the motion work I've created since my last reel in 2017. It's a little compressed to meet the 20MB size limit here. It shows some UX/UI motion design work as well as for social projects and experiments with lettering, tools like spline and Cinema 4d's physics.

Tools used

Adobe AfterEffects
Figma
Spline
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop

Fantastic work! It’s evident that a great deal of effort and thought has gone into this project.

As a viewer, I’d love to understand more about the context and purpose of the work—whether it’s designed for a movie, an app, or a micro-interaction. Highlighting the motion design principles in relation to the use case would provide valuable insights and make it easier for others to learn from your approach.

If possible, consider showcasing a specific clip or screenshot from the video and explaining how it contributes to the storytelling. This could be a great way to share your creative thought process and inspire others. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Thanks. Yes I should do more walkthrough content of my portfolio. It'd be a longer video of course. It's a good idea to use my work to explain animation principles. I've taught classes on motion graphics so it'd be a good way to start thinking about how I might build async course content for online audiences. Have you built any teaching content online or on this platform yourself? What did you learn from the process?
Here's a version with spoken commentary. https://vimeo.com/1072655184?share=copy The background for that one, I just used my cinema display to record audio and video. The audio was weak so I had adobe's audio ai enhancement run on it to remove background noise and improve audio. It simulates how the voice sounds through the SHURE high end podcast mics if I recall correctly. Then I went through and cut out about 45 seconds of umms and aaahs, unneeded pauses and so on. Then re-exported using lower settings to stay at a 220MB size to upload easily. A way to improve the picture would be to use iphone via continuity and the magsafe mount I have on the monitor. Maybe the entry level shure mic would be a good idea at some point as well. Thanks for the prompting.
Great to hear that you’ve been teaching classes — that’s something that can be really helpful for viewers here who are willing to learn about motion design. I haven’t built any teaching content yet, but I’m planning to do something along those lines. When it comes to learning, I’m particularly interested in understanding the thought process and design rationale, regardless of the designer’s seniority level. I believe that’s a valuable learning opportunity.
