White space

White space

White (or negative) space is the empty space around the elements in your design. It's not always strictly empty, as the page's background will fill the space.

White space allows elements room to breathe, helps them stand out, and makes it easier for users to scan the page. Another function of white space is to create larger touch targets for buttons and clickable elements, which improves usability.
