As a UI/UX designer, I’ve always been eager to learn new skills. But every time I enrolled in an online course, it felt like my phone conspired against me—one notification, and suddenly I was deep into memes instead of modules.

That relentless cycle distraction sparked a lightbulb moment.

In 2024, I set out to design an eLearning app with a twist—one created by learners, for learners. The content? Crafted by creators. The cost? A whopping zero dollars. And the mission? To make learning so engaging and focused that even goldfish would be jealous.

I dived deep into UX research for this project—chatted with real users uncovered their pain points, and turned their complaints into glorious app features. result? A revolutionary learning app standing tall on three mighty pillars:

Personalization – Tailored learning just for you, like a custom-fit suit for your brain.

Reminders – Those friendly little nudges that say, “Hey, don’t forget me!” without being annoying.

AI Assistance – Your ever-patient, know-it-all buddy ready to answer questions or clear up confusion, even mid-lesson.

And the cherry on top? A learning-focused community—think of it as the cooler cousin of social media, where you can actually share, ask, and grow with fellow learners.

From user interviews to wireframes, user flows to design systems, this project is my ode to product design—fixing real problems with experiences so smooth, they feel like butter.

Hi Sachuthanantha, I’m trying to understand the reasoning here 🤔

Problem statements:

• “…every time I enrolled in an online course, it felt like my phone conspired against me—one notification, and suddenly I was deep into memes instead of modules.”

• Enrolled in courses then “ping! I checked the message, scrolled through Instagram, and the focus was gone.”

• “The biggest blocker to my learning wasn’t lack of motivation, it was constant digital distraction.”

Solution / Goal:

Create a mobile-first eLearning app that reduces distractions and enhances focus through personalization, smart reminders, and AI-powered support.

Correct me if I’m wrong, so, the problem is notifications that take the shape of constant digital distraction, and the solution is to create another notification?

I’m assuming the user in this scenario can’t turn off other notifications and only turn on the course notification or when the ping! course notification arrives, they can’t help but check another notification from a different app, such as Instagram.

This got me thinking that you’d build, first and foremost, an engaging notification (perhaps with funny, interesting copy) to stop users from opening other app notifications, but I haven’t seen this in your design?

Let me know if I understood that correctly 😄
