The MyPorsche App serves as a central hub for Porsche owners, managing a wide range of vehicle features and services. My work on the app focused on integrating various features, OTA (over-the-air) updates management being one of them, into its existing feature set.

This involved designing everything from the entry points to the detailed management screens, ensuring a seamless user experience aligned with Porsche’s brand standards.

/ROLE

As a UX Designer, I was responsible for creating and delivering designs for various features, the OTA updates feature being the biggest. I also had to advise and supervise part of the app regarding charging services to ensure everything was consistent with the new charging services experience I was working on.

This required collaboration with developers, designers, and external research agencies, as well as contributing to broader consistency across the app’s user experience.

/CHALLENGES

This project came with several challenges that required adaptability and strong collaboration. I had to rely on user research conducted by an outsourced agency, which limited my ability to test and confirm certain design decisions directly.

The tooling setup added complexity, as the app was designed in Sketch with version control managed through Abstract, making collaboration and version management more time-intensive.

Additionally, the app was transitioning to a new design system, requiring designs to be maintained across both the old and new systems simultaneously. Working within a large team of designers also demanded consistent communication, feedback exchanges, and alignment to ensure a cohesive user experience across all features.

/WHAT WAS DONE

I designed the OTA updates management feature from concept to completion, including defining the entry points, user flows, and management screens. I ensured designs were production-ready by working closely with developers and preparing assets in Phrase, integrated with Sketch.

Weekly collaboration with the design team involved presenting work, gathering feedback, and ensuring cross-feature consistency. I also advised the team working on charging management within the app, aligning it with the new charging service experience I previously worked on.

/METHODS USED

  • Collaborative design and feedback sessions with a large team of designers
  • Wireframing and prototyping in Sketch, with version control via Abstract
  • Developer handoff and preparation using Phrase for translation integration
  • Analysis and application of insights from outsourced user research

The Digital Garage: Enhancing The MyPorsche App 1

/OUTCOMES & IMPACT

The integration of the OTA updates features streamlined the app’s functionality, providing users with an intuitive way to manage vehicle updates.

Despite the challenges of tool limitations and indirect research access, the designs met Porsche’s high standards.

Additionally, my contributions to the charging management feature ensured consistency with the charging services product, enhancing the overall app experience.

/REFLECTION

This project emphasized the importance of collaboration within a large, multi-disciplinary team. It also reinforced my ability to adapt to tooling and research constraints while maintaining a high level of quality and consistency in my designs.
