Objectives and Goals

REG247 sells private number plates in the United Kingdom.

The checkout is split into 2 types, one is direct buy (actual checkout) and the other is enquiry (book and offer the price).

We aim to reduce cart abandonment and improve the overall checkout experience. This not only enhances user satisfaction but also drives higher conversion rates for our platform.

The key aspects of the redesign checkout flow of REG247 is explained as follows :

Visual Hierarchy

  • Applied long form approach in decision to make all information is remembered and stored correctly, as all of the information regarding the plate orders is sensitive and many required form inputs are needed.
  • Using consistent and contrasting colors on primary actions (Next). We don't use secondary actions (Back) on this approach as the information is stored on same page and session.

Progressive Disclosure

  • Break the checkout into bite-sized steps with a clear progress indicator. We grouped them into 3 main categories, which is Customer Information, Plate and Transfer Options, and Summary and Payment.
  • Use progressive disclosure to reveal information only as needed. We took the collapsible accordion steps of those 3 groups above so user could prevent overwhelming process if needs to simplify the look when input the data on checkout form (special case on secure checkout)

User Assistance

  • Integrate contextual help and tooltips for complex fields.
  • Use inline validation to provide immediate feedback on errors.

Trust and Security

  • Clearly communicate the security measures in place for payment processing. The two verified badge we display on this page was reviews badge from reviews.io and safe checkout guaranteed badge, helping to build trust with potential buyers.
  • Highlight customer support availability for any issues during checkout. (indicating by information tooltip icon on DVLA free) plus FAQ during confirmations.
  • The aim here is to alleviate any last-minute doubts or concerns users might have about the transaction, enhancing their confidence to proceed with the purchase.

User Flows on Checkout

We designed flow of these checkout pages to guide users through the necessary steps of providing billing information, selecting product options, reviewing the order, and making a secure payment.

Each screen is clearly designed to gather essential data, offer personalization, ensure accuracy, and build trust.

Streamlining these steps while maintaining clarity and security can help reduce cart abandonment and improve the overall user experience on the platform.
