Platform: Flipkart

Flipkart operates as an e-commerce marketplace connecting buyers with various sellers. Their revenue comes from commissions on sales, advertising fees, and subscription services like Flipkart Plus.

Design Process

  1. Research on brand voice
  2. Find out how Flipkart communicate with users on social media
  3. Analyze tone of voice applied on its website
  4. Search current push notifications to feel the style
  5. Craft the push notifications based on the findings

Brand Tone of Voice

The tone is friendly, engaging, and customer-centric, often using conversational language to connect with users. Flipkart emphasizes trust, convenience, and a wide variety of choices, aiming to make shopping a pleasant experience.

Communication Style Analysis

They use a conversational and approachable language to interact with users, often addressing issues directly and providing updates on new features and services.

Push Notifications for 4 Different Scenarios

1. Discount Offered

Title: "Exclusive Deal Just for You"

Body: "Grab amazing discounts on your favorite products. Shop now and save big!"

Explanation: This notification highlights the value proposition and creates urgency without being overly pushy, encouraging immediate action.

2. Shipping Delay

Title: "Update on Your Order"

Body: "We’re experiencing a slight delay. Track your order for updates. Thanks for your patience!"

Explanation: This is concise and transparent, maintaining trust by informing users of the delay and providing an action to track their order.

3. Order Confirmed

Title: "Order Confirmed"

Body: "Your order is confirmed. View details and we’ll notify you once it ships. Thank you!"

Explanation: This provides assurance and a sense of security, offering a clear action (viewing order details) to keep users engaged.

4. Out-of-Stock Goods Back in Store

Title: "Back in Stock"

Body: "Good news, the item you wanted is back in stock. Shop now before it sells out again!"

Explanation: This notification creates excitement and urgency, encouraging users to make a purchase before the item goes out of stock again.

Great work on the push notifications copy! The brand voice is clear and encouraging without being too pushy.

I recommend minimizing the number of exclamation points per message, as it can come across as trying too hard to sell or encourage users to take action.

From a technical standpoint, adding action buttons would be very helpful. For example, a push notification about a delay could offer a button to track the order. Similarly, a notification about an item returning to stock could include a button like "Explore" or "Go Shopping."

Overall, good work!

I really like the branding, it is well thought out. The blue and the yellow go well together. The typeface an spacing is easy to read with great heirarchy.

I'd like to give some feedback on the writing.

Message 1: Should it be 'Exclusive Deals...'? Using it as a singular means only one deal, and since later, you wrote 'favorite products' would mean there are more, meaning more discounts.

Message 2: 'Update on Your Order' could it be changed to 'Order Update # or Item name'? Doing this would make it easier for the customer to understand which order has an update.

Message 3: 'Order Confirmed, Your order is confirmed' to me, if feels a bit redundant since you just mentioned it was confirmed. You could perhaps put which order exactly is confirmed under the subject line. eg. Bluestar AC is confirmed.

Message 4: 'Shop now before it sells out again!' is this a dark pattern? It feels like if I don't act now, I won't get the product. Instead, you could put some encouragement to shop.

Last thing, you may want to look at using auto-layout. The timing and the CTA may cause some issues.

Overall, very well done and looking forward to see more of your work.

Thank you Waseem for the detailed feedback! And yes, I am working on leveraging auto-layout in my design.
