Open full project

The product brief provided is to create a sustainable e-commerce platform, focusing on accessible, ethical, and environmental principles. I focused on the landing page of the company. It incorporates emphasizing the brand's commitment to ethical practices in fashion and the peek into it's product lineups. The company's transparency statement and ethical credentials was included in the design to encourage informed consumer choices.

Goals

  1. to create a design that promotes inclusivity, transparency, and environmental responsibility while providing an engaging user experience.
  2. Ensure my design meets accessibility criteria, conveys sustainability features, and inspires users to make environmentally conscious purchasing decisions

Design Rationale

Navigation:

I crafted the navigation to prioritize accessibility, integrating search functionality that also accommodates voice commands. The entire website is navigable using keyboard commands, ensuring it is accessible to a broad audience.

Sustainability:

I spotlighted the use of sustainable materials, the company's transparency statement and their entire supply chain to help users make informed decisions. I've also highlighted the company's collaboration with third world countries to help the user gain even more insight into this.

Accessibility:

Following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), I ensured the site was navigable for people with disabilities, incorporating features like alt text for images and high-contrast text and color contrast.

Ethical Practices:

I emphasized transparency in ethical sourcing and fair labor practices. Sections like "Transparency statement” were introduced to connect consumers with the human stories behind their purchases, fostering a sense of community and ethical responsibility.

Inclusivity:

A significant focus was placed on inclusivity, ensuring that product images and descriptions catered to diverse body types, abilities, and backgrounds. I included diverse model to help customers visualize how products might fit different bodies, promoting body positivity and a more inclusive shopping environment.

Avoidance of Dark Patterns:

I made conscious efforts to design against dark patterns. This meant ensuring that user choices were respected without misleading prompts or hidden subscriptions. Transparency in pricing, diverse body types and straightforward navigation were key elements. By doing so, I aimed to build trust and foster a positive relationship with users in a sensitive platform selling undergarments, countering the manipulative tactics that erode user confidence and integrity in such a platform.
