Excellent work on planning such a thoughtfully crafted workshop! I could clearly follow the guidelines and objectives. Nice clean design as well which adds a feel of professionalism.
Highlights:
- Overall I like the structure of the workshop and how you’ve presented it, very organised and well designed. I can already imagine me running this myself!
- I like the recap moment on Day 2, which is important to keep participants on track as the next day they may have forgotten a few key points
- Great that you specify which tools to use and who to involve which makes it easier for the facilitator to know what to prepare and who to mail about the specific days
- This looks like an intense workshop, but it’s good that you specify start and beginning times so that everything is time-boxed.
Spots for improvement:
- A problem statement is there to encourage creative thinking so ideally we should not identify a specific solution, as yours states “…create an online DIY music scene directory”. Instead try something like, “"How might we help users easily find and connect with the information they need in a digital environment?" This will keep the focus on the user's needs without prescribing a specific solution.
- For Day 1 when introducing the workshop, I would also include an ice-breaker (Uxcel has a course on this) as well as a round of introductions to make participants feel at ease instead of jumping right into the workshop.
- Under brainstorming it would be nice to specify what method to use. For example SCAMPER, Mind maps, 5 why’s or reverse brainstorming.
- When asking users to “select a top feature” specify the method such as “Dot voting” so that the “top” feature is decided as a group
Overall, I would add more instructions on how to run the activities such as setting a timer. I do believe a more experienced designer or facilitator can run with this, but for a junior or a beginner they may need more instruction and steps. Nice work and keep it up!
