Creating a Survey for a Food Delivery Service Survey
Introduction
How often do you get a survey? I'm guessing almost every day?
Surveys are a great research tool to gather quantitative data. However, I've often seen poorly executed surveys.
A survey can only be successful if you:
- Set a clear goal
- Have a focus market
- Keep it brief
- Manage users' expectations
Defining the Platform and Focus Area
- Platform: JUST-EAT (Web version).
- Focus Area: Spanish market.
My research will be conducted primarily in Spain to uncover the food delivery preferences and behavior of users in this region.
When carrying out Surveys, segmentation contributes to more concrete and localized findings.
Competitor Analysis
Main Competitors in the Spanish Market:
- Glovo: Known for delivering everything from food to groceries, even errands.
- Uber Eats: Offers a competitive user interface and sometimes faster delivery.
Unique Selling Point of JUST-EAT:
- Broad vendor variety compared to Glovo or Uber Eats.
- Accepts a wider range of payment methods
Survey Design
Goal of the Survey:
Understand the frequency of orders, user priorities, and behavior when using food delivery platforms to determine usage drop in recent months.
Target Audience:
Residents of Spain, aged 18-50, who have used food delivery services at least once in the past three months.
Conclusion
A drop in usage can happen for several reasons. As researchers, we might consider other aspects before sending a survey.
It's important to be transparent with users about WHY you are sending a survey and how long it will take. Survey response rates are not necessarily high, so managing users' expectations is essential.
Besides thinking about the quality of the questions, I considered the presentation. Researchers must work alongside the marketing team to maintain brand guidelines and consistency.

Love it, especially the in-depth rationale
Perfect
I really love this design — it's clean, fun, and visually engaging. The playful illustration of the delivery rider adds energy and friendliness to the brand, while the bold Just Eat logo ensures clear brand recognition."
Good Work!
