Labels
Labels represent short text commands (2-4 words) that users usually encounter on button labels, menus, tags, text inputs, and other action-oriented UI elements. Their main goal is to clarify the task and encourage action. That's why labels should be concise but informative and straightforward. Undeniably, consistency is key when it comes to labels that appear in different locations to indicate the same action.
Ultimately, they tell users what to do and should be as visible as possible. Make sure to comply with WCAG's color contrast requirements for labels — 4.5:1 for normal-sized text, which is less than 18 pt or 14 pt if bold.
