Cropping an image

Cropping an image

Cropping an image in Figma lets you cut off the sides of a picture to show just the part you want. You don't lose the parts you cut off; you just hide them. This means you can change your mind and adjust the crop later if you need to.

To crop an image:

  1. First, select the layer that has the image fill.
  2. Then, navigate to the Fill section in the Design panel and click on the image thumbnail.
  3. Open the image mode dropdown and select Crop.
  4. Use the 8 blue handles around the image to adjust your crop.

For proportional cropping, hold the Shift key (on both Mac and Windows) to maintain the image's aspect ratio.
