Cropping an image
Cropping an image in Figma lets you cut off the sides of a picture to show just the part you want. You don't lose the parts you cut off; you just hide them. This means you can change your mind and adjust the crop later if you need to.
To crop an image:
- First, select the layer that has the image fill.
- Then, navigate to the Fill section in the Design panel and click on the image thumbnail.
- Open the image mode dropdown and select Crop.
- Use the 8 blue handles around the image to adjust your crop.
For proportional cropping, hold the Shift key (on both Mac and Windows) to maintain the image's aspect ratio.
