User Persona for Social Media App (Threads App)

These personas are developed for the Threads App. I have created two personas: Emma Johnson, representing a typical consumer user, and Alex Garcia, representing a content creator.

A year has passed since the launch of Threads as a competitor to X (Twitter). However, Threads has not achieved the same level of connection with its audience as its main competitor. To understand the decline in user retention, it is crucial to examine the two primary user types: the typical consumer who consumes content on Threads, and the content creator who generates this content. Understanding both user groups' needs and pain points is essential to enhancing their user experience.

Although I couldn't conduct interviews or surveys, I analyzed Play Store and App Store reviews to gain significant insights from users. This provided a comprehensive understanding of the consumer perspective. To gather insights from content creators, I turned to platforms like Reddit, which offered valuable perspectives and ideas. This approach yielded major insights, such as the frequent recommendation for a personalized feed.

In conclusion, key insights derived from these personas include the need for fewer notifications to respect users' time, personalized feeds, improved comment navigation, and enhanced editing options. Addressing these issues in the next steps of ideation can significantly enhance the user experience for Threads users.
