UI Redesign , UI Design Critic
This is one of my personal projects that I built 6 months ago. Today, I revisited it to improve the UI design of Home page. I'm Currently working on enhancing my critical design thinking skills.
If you have any suggestions on how I can further improve my critical design thinking, I’d love to hear them.

Hello Ameer,
The redesigned version is clearer than the old one. First, I’d like to make a suggestion: as humans, we’re used to seeing the before version first and then the after version it’s become a habit. So, presenting the before version first and the redesigned one after would make it easier to understand the changes.
As for the redesign itself, here are the areas I think have been improved the most:
- The "Add Customer" button is more prominent,
- Many clickable areas have been enlarged to be more mobile-friendly,
- Profile images (avatars) have been added next to names,
- Shadows were replaced with solid colors, which has made the design feel cleaner and more modern.
Great job overall, well done!
That said, I’m curious about the reasoning and hypotheses behind some of the design decisions:
- Why did you move the search bar to the top? If the search is intended for finding customers, UX-wise it makes more sense to keep it within the customer section. That way, users see the search results right below and the overall layout balance is preserved. From a UX perspective, the ideal spot for the search bar would be just above the tabs.
- The highlighted information above the payment section draws a lot of attention. To improve visual hierarchy, it might help to increase the contrast between the amount and the text so it’s easier to tell what’s primary vs secondary information.
- At the bottom section, if the spacing above and below the icons is equal, the UI will look cleaner and more consistent with design guidelines.
In general, you’re progressing well, congratulations and best of luck!
Also, I recommend checking out this resource: lawsofux.com it covers fundamental UX principles. If you apply those principles during your redesign process, you can achieve even more outstanding results.
The changes outlined in the Before-After table effectively showcase your design rationale and thought process.
That said, I found myself a bit unclear about the app’s primary use case and the context in which it operates. Providing a brief overview or background about the app’s purpose and target audience would greatly support the audit.
Regarding the search bar, its original placement seems more intuitive, especially if it is intended solely for searching customer-related information.
I also noticed the use of non-English words written in English script. If the app targets a bilingual or multilingual audience, introducing a language toggle might enhance usability.
Was there a particular reason for opting not to use the native script or other language options? Exploring this could further improve accessibility and user experience.
Overall, great effort!
Keep up the good work mate!
Good redesigning of the page with a clean layout and less cognitive load!
