NextChamps
NextChamps is an interactive EdTech platform designed to make online learning more engaging for students and more transparent for parents. With features like gamified quizzes, 1:1 mentor sessions, and real-time performance dashboards, the platform supports continuous upskilling for school-age learners in a post-COVID world.
The Challenge
Redesign the NextChamps mobile learning experience to address usability gaps, increase engagement, and enhance visibility for parents. Create a seamless onboarding journey, intuitive navigation, and personalized learning paths that make education more fun and effective.
The problem statement
During the COVID-19 pandemic, students and parents faced major challenges adapting to online learning—distractions at home, lack of motivation, and difficulty navigating digital tools. The EdTech platform struggled to capture attention due to poor onboarding, uninspired UI, and limited access to live sessions and performance tracking. We aim to redesign the experience to make it more intuitive, engaging, and supportive of students’ upskilling goals.
Story Board
Initial Discovery
Lack of Activity-Based Learning: Users felt that the platform lacked engaging, hands-on learning experiences that connect theory to practical application.
Insufficient 1:1 Support: Students and parents reported a lack of personalized guidance or mentor interaction, reducing effectiveness and motivation.
Poor Transparency for Parents: Parents struggled to track their child's performance clearly, with no detailed reports or insights into progress, assessments, or learning gaps.
Unclear Demo and Onboarding: New users found it difficult to explore demo modules and understand how to start using the platform effectively.
Low Engagement in Learning Content: The design and experience lacked gamification and compelling elements to keep students consistently engaged and motivated.

Great job, keep up the good work!
Overall, you’ve done an amazing job! Visually it’s clean and consistent, and the layout feels well thought through. That said, here are my thoughts on how you can elevate the design:
First, some of the interactive elements (like buttons or icons) look a bit too small. Make sure your tap targets are at least 40–44px. On mobile, users are navigating with their thumbs, and if a button is too small or too close to another element, it can cause a lot of frustration or even missed interactions.
Second, think about grouping elements more intentionally. Right now, all elements are spaced in a very even way, which creates a sense of visual uniformity, but it also makes it harder for the eye to understand which elements are related.
When we group related content or actions together (with tighter spacing between them and more space around unrelated items), we create visual hierarchy and make the interface easier to scan and understand. It also helps guide the user through the screen in a more intuitive way.
Great work, keep pushing!
