World Explorer: Video Streaming App to Find New Experience Everywhere

The goal of the research is to create middle-fidelity prototyped wireframes with basic features of WE app. World Explorer or WE is an app that would help people to explore the world by browsing videos and live streaming recorded in a specific spot highlighted on the world map.

The first step is understanding the users needs and formulate job stories [see job stories in Figma]. Job stories is a best approach in this context as it's complicated to highlight accurate target audience. The app is a mix of features that used in completely different cases and can't be strongly linked to a specific type of user.

The second step is demonstrating task flows for each of the job story [see task flows in Figma]. This stage helps to visualise main user steps.

The third step is to check how competitors solve the same tasks [see competitors in Figma]. Actually, in this case, there are a lot of competitors which solve same tasks by different features. For instance:

1. Tiktok and Instagram provide short videos with an opportunity to attach location.
2. YouTube provides longer videos but less focused on the location.
3. Airbnb and Tripadvisor provide list of organised events based on location but without videos.

To simplify the investigation and create a feature list for MVP as fast as possible, it's reasonable to focus on one job story and its task flow:

When I’m in a foreign country and wondering where to go,
 I want to find the nearest place
 so I can make a fast decision and get new experience.

Then, I showed simple screen flows of how Airbnb, Tripadvisor and Instagram solve this task.

The last step is to design wireframes and showcase the same task solved by World Explorer App using all the obtained information. See prototype in Figma.
