I built a 404 page for Wealthsimple's website. For people who are not in Canada, this is a banking platform that was made to make banking very simple and easy for everyone in Canada.

I used Replit to design this page since I was able to extract the branding once I got the core design composition within the page. On top of that, as a product manager, I took into consideration certain regulations and laws when designing or building anything for a financial institution. I included:

  • Dual Language Options: According to the Official Languages Act, in Canada, you need to provide language accessibility for English and French.
  • Access to Critical Disclosures: According to the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, it is required that consumers always have consistent access to certain information (like contact info for lost/stolen cards or terms of service)
  • Accessibility: According to the Accessible Canada Act, institutions need to be accessible to Canadians. I made sure my design was at least held to WCAG 2.2 standards.
  • Anti-Phishing: To also avoid being sued, I have also made it clear in my published design that this is a demo replica that is not the actual website.

Hi Nicholas,

Great project! The 404 page fits nicely into Wealthsimple's branding. I like the colour, button and type face choices.

To reduce cognitive load and improve the experience, I'd have one CTA "Go to Home" and remove all the other options. Then a user can get back on track straight away.

Loved it otherwise!

Thank you for the feedback, I will take it into consideration
