User Persona - Pinterest
Overview of the Project
Platform: Pinterest
Device: Mobile App
Research Methods
1. Mock Interviews Using AI
To simulate realistic user feedback, I utilized AI to generate mock interviews by giving it my own set of questions. These interviews reflected diverse user personas and their pain points based on real-world user behaviours.
These Questions were:
- Have you heard about the application Pinterest?
- How much do you use Pinterest?
- For what purposes do you use Pinterest?
- How's your overall experience with the application?
- What's the most like and dislike about the app?
From these mock-up interviews, I tried to analyze the challenges users are facing and came up with insights that can make Pinterest the wholesome app it is supposed to be. Again.
2. Secondary Research
- I conducted secondary research by analysing user reviews on the Google Play Store. Reviews provided insights into the frustrations and needs of Pinterest users.
This mixed-method approach combined qualitative AI-generated data with real-world user feedback to identify core challenges and validate personas.
Persona Creation
The personas were designed to reflect three major challenges faced by Pinterest users. Each persona addresses a unique pain point, such as:
- Excessive advertisements.
- Repetitive, AI-generated content.
- Limited functionality for search and filtering.
Personas
Persona 1:
Persona 2:
Persona 3:
These insights can make Pinterest a more user-centred platform, ensuring that it continues to serve as an inspiring and creative App.

Exceptionally done. Love your persona building method combining AI mock interviews and user reviews. The personas are fleshed out well and super actionable. And as a Pinterest user myself, I was able to relate to a lot of these frustrations and motivations, so I'd say your submission really captures the current pulse of Pinterest's user experience!
Hello Sidra, this is thoughtful research work. You've structured the personas clearly with distinct profiles that reflect real user challenges on Pinterest. The visual presentation is polished, and the research methodology — combining mock interviews with secondary data from Google Play — shows you're thinking about how to gather meaningful insights.
The personas feel grounded and actionable. You can see how different users would interact with the platform differently, which is exactly what makes personas useful for a design team!
I was excited to read about this project because I’m a Pinterest user myself, and I think you’ve really captured the essence of what users are feeling and needing right now. I loved how you combined AI-generated mock interviews with real user reviews to build out your personas. It's a smart and creative approach! Amazing work :)
