Initially I thought of having a medical camp for LGBTQ+ community. After some research, defined the problem statement.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Healthify Me wants to establish itself as inclusive nourishing and diversity welcoming brand in the fitness market. to understand more about the community’s needs, preferences, and pain points, they're partnering with an NGO and a medical university for a medical camp on this PRIDE JUN month.

THE EVENT

Healthify Me is hosting full body free checkup for LGBTQ+ community; partnering with Nirangal, a NGO working across Tamil Nadu state. Location - Saveetha Medical College, Thandalam, Chennai, 29 Jun 2024 Time - morning 9am to 1pm.

Understanding the Event Formula

  • pre event planning —
  • how healthify me and Nirangal is gonna partner?
  • identify health concerns prevalent within Chennai LGBTQ+ community
  • secure accessible venue
  • collaboration with hospitals or clinics
  • promo in social media, community center, lgbtq+ org to spread awareness
  • online registration for the event to understand participation rate
  • with respect to analytics,
  • from historic records of Healthify Me hosted social events, we can pull in (average) numbers for reference point — how much of social media attention in gained? how many people signed up for the event? how many people turned up for the event?
  • track camp’s reach within LGBTQ+ community with help of social media, partnering work and online registrations
  • measure registration conversion rate primarily at the event
  • event day activities —
  • in-person registration → waiting area → consultation → result to be sent in mail
  • the big hug wall
  • conduct survey the participant experience — paper forms and word of mouth
  • post event activities —
  • understand the preferences, needs, pain points, neutral experiences of the LGBTQ+ community for the Healthify Me future prospect project
  • brainstorm and ideate from the research
  • with respect to analytics,
  • post-camp survey results
  • Healthify Me app downloads and subscriptions post the event
  • social media mentions and attention gained on total - promotes brand awareness and society sentiment

I've discussed - the challenges, the design decisions I made along the way to funnel down the options, and arrive at the Final Prototype. So head for the Design process with annotations in Figma - https://bit.ly/3zBWTsH and Detailed Case study in Notion - https://bit.ly/3VTdLmd

THE CHALLENGE

Post the Content structuring and strategizing, did the Information architecture. Ideated the user Persona, and the real challenge begun. I chose to have challenging element in this project - the header banner.

Reason to choose collage of all art forms -

  • From my understanding, collage is all about bringing in pieces together to convey a strong message, create a master piece, make a statement and tell a story. I can never imagine a better art form to represent LGBTQ+ community.
  • In this landing page project, I want to challenge myself with something hard. I've always thought collage, digital or paper, is not my cup of tea. I gave myself an opportunity to prove me wrong and attempt a hand (at least a finger). I've always thought that I'm not that good with colors and something like collage always intimidated me. I wanted to break myself free from that resistance.

the background color palate is not wrong, but I wasn't satisfied with it. I wanted to have natural elements.

and when I did the version I was satisfied with iPad, clarity was poor. couldn't scale up and down. and the collage sitting within the blob felt enclosed and encompassed.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

and finally made the digital assets in Figma. this version is more balanced, the elements bring in the natural composition. going ahead with this.

The Collage Concept (reasoning behind the elements) -

  • The LGBTQ+ community is part of the nature. I tried signifying that with natural elements - the rain forest, cotton candy clouds, and the big ocean at sunrise
  • The forest trail is so long, untouched, and that famous less traveled road. Nonetheless, there’s a majestic galaxy waiting beyond the epic double-door
  • Picked up LGBTQ+ influencers online to bring in “real world” to the artwork
  • The eyes and lips of the word are just part of the trail. as a peer human I want to acknowledge that, but at the same time trash it as well.
  • While most of the LGBTQ+ guys are choosing to be artisans, I want to bring in the educational element and backstory of their community with the stack of books.
  • I tried emoting their heartfelt messages online with quotes - “just a simple hello without judgment would be a dream come true” and “I stand tall”
  • Chose Valentine to tell the tale of “love comes in all forms”

CONCLUSION

Let me address a few things I learned with this project -

  • While Researching on NGO and medical camp in Chennai, there were not much of Internet resource. I felt stuck and couldn't produce much concrete evidence to add on. I reached out to a friend-of-friend-of-friend who once worked with a blood donation camp event in the city to actually know the behind-the-scene process. This really cut down some mindless internet scrolls and sped up the process. And stood as a reliable source to make viable decisions.
  • Also, while researching, I realized that at some point we need to stop, name the file as version 1, and move on to the next step. There will always be resources to create version 2 on demand, right?
  • The challenge I created for myself amidst the Design task delayed the process, but then again I really learned the basics of digital collage making.

Thank you :)

I love your aesthetic for the LGBTQ+ Medical Camp landing page! It's so minimalistic and easy to follow. Really excellent presentation and rationale too. Just one note for improvement — your copy could be a lot more impactful, especially the headings and CTA. The body text is concise and to the point but it could use a bit more proofreading and rephrasing for clarity. Overall, fantastic job!

Thank you for your honest review Raaghavi :) I will definitely work on microcopy and try for version 2!!
