HelpHub is a help desk app, in which you can create tickets and live chat with agents to solve your technical issues as quickly as possible.

Research: When designing the settings page for HelpHub, I first researched a bit into other help desk applications and created a benchmark. The main problem I identified was the lack of user-friendly design in most technical apps. Therefore, I wanted the settings page to be as clear and visually appealing as possible.

Design choices: Help desk apps can become very complex overtime, with new features and privacy settings. So I wanted to make sure that users had no trouble navigating through the settings of the app.

  1. Added a search bar to make sure users can navigate directly to the setting they want.
  2. Divided settings into sections, to make sure each subpage is categorized with other relevant subpages.
  3. Made sure the subpages are in an order of importance, by what the users would use most.
  4. Used icons for easy recognition, and fast scannability of the page.
  5. Paid attention to accessibility standards when picking text sizes and button colors.
  6. Designed a dark mode of the app, for better viewing in darker locations.

I hope you enjoy my project! Would appreciate any feedback to help me grow as a designer :)

Hey Ekin!

Really neat work! I like that you went the extra mile to make sure the dark mode version is well designed. I am also giving you bonus points for writing out a clear design rationale that gives me enough information to understand what problem you were trying to solve. I would add a little bit more information about your users and research insights. Maybe some personas and user flows could be nice to have :)

I did go ahead and leave some feedback in the form of comments on your figma so I won't retype it all here, but for the benefit of other students, some of the feedback was on:

  • Making sure there is enough spacing of elements especially when there is a lot of text
  • Being mindful of contrast
  • Adding some notes to the competitive analysis so we know what you thought as you reviewed those apps

Keep on learning and designing! Good work!
