Victoria Cinema - Dark Mode Design
I redesigned the light mode interface for the homepage of the Victoria Cinema website, based in Cluj, Romania. You can check the actual site here.
Menu and Navigation: I restructured the menu to enhance commercial appeal and usability, adding new items such as "Tickets," "Events & Specials," and "Contact Us." The primary call-to-action (CTA) button for ticket purchases is now prominently displayed, making it easier for users to buy tickets. Additionally, I included a light/dark mode button with a micro-animation for a more interactive and enjoyable user experience.
Main Section: The main section highlights the best movie of the month or week, with added buttons for "Full Cast," "Trailer," and "Tickets," providing users with quick access to essential information and actions.
Movie Schedule: I introduced a section displaying the movie schedule for the week, including a clickable calendar for selecting dates. This helps users easily find showtimes for their preferred dates.
Latest Movies and Subscription: A section for the latest movies is prominently featured. The subscription section is designed to be more vibrant and accentuated to catch users' attention and encourage sign-ups.
Dark Mode Design: When switching to dark mode, the colors are less saturated, ensuring a smooth transition between light and dark modes without significant changes to the elements.
Rationale: The redesign focuses on enhancing usability and commercial viability. The improved navigation and clear CTAs streamline the user journey, making purchasing tickets and finding information easier. The light/dark mode button with animation adds an engaging element to the user experience. Highlighting the best movie, displaying a clear schedule, and emphasising the subscription section are strategic decisions to drive user engagement and conversions. The overall design aims for a seamless and enjoyable user experience across light and dark modes.

I like your redesign. It's cleaner and more sleek. However, regarding the accessibility of the dark mode, you might not have checked the visibility of the lime green CTA against the image background — the color is too bright and might create difficulties for users to see it and scan on the go its label.
I recommend exploring the Color Accessibility lesson within the Design Accessibility course. Additionally, it would be great to hear more about how you selected the colors for the dark mode, how consistent they are with the light mode, and the approach you took to develop the dark mode palette.
Thank you for your submission, Iulia!
I like the new design you proposed very much. In terms of hierarchy content, you missed the opportunity to graciously show more info. For instance, my octopus Teacher could use a bar of icons with sound, type of movie and so on. Your "see all cast" is acting like you didn't have space for more information, where in fact, you can use the negative space in your favour.
Great vibes!
