Yes I agree with this sentiment, khan academy uses consistent illustrations of it's characters which haven't featured in the research ir the result.

In my presentation, I shared how I researched the brand guidelines to inform my approach. I made sure to keep the fonts and colours consistent and created a new character that followed the sketch-type style already established by the brand.
