Vertical elements are an excellent way to save space in your UI design. They’re popular for mobile designs, partly for that reason and partly because mobile devices are more likely to be used in portrait mode. Vertical elements are also more scrollable than horizontal elements — it just feels more natural scrolling up and down vs. left and right.
