Proportion brings balance and order to our life. More than that, it follows the universal patterns from nature, such as shells, snowflakes, or honeycombs. In 3D modeling, realistic proportions repeat the real-life sizes of different object parts and how objects relate to each other in the overall composition. The safe rule of thumb here is to start with the big objects and move up to details, balancing the sizes and proportions.
