2024 | Naksha Bazaar: Revamping Website Design

Project Overview:

Nakshabazaar, an e-commerce platform specializing in house designs and blueprints, approached me to completely redesign their website for the main customer base. The goal was to enhance user engagement, improve usability, and provide a seamless experience for customers exploring house designs and related services. This revamp focused exclusively on their customer-facing platform, while a separate engineer dashboard was also developed as part of the project.

Problem Statement:

The existing website lacked visual appeal, was not user-friendly, and did not effectively communicate the wide range of services offered by Nakshabazaar. The platform needed:

• A cohesive design system with modern aesthetics.
• Improved navigation for accessing trending house designs, service details, and consultations.
• Enhanced user interactions to simplify design selection and customization.

My Role:

As the lead UI/UX designer, I was responsible for the end-to-end redesign process, including:

• Research and analysis of customer needs and competitors.
• Developing wireframes, prototypes, and final UI designs.
• Choosing a color palette, typography, and layouts to align with the brand.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the designs met business goals.

Design Approach:

1. Research and Insights

I conducted user interviews and competitor analysis to identify key pain points and preferences. Insights revealed the need for:

• Simplified navigation for discovering designs and services.
• Clear categorization and filtering of house designs.
• A professional yet approachable brand image.

2. Key Design Decisions

Color Palette & Typography:

I selected a modern and professional color palette combining teal and neutral tones to establish trust and sophistication. The typography blends readability with elegance, using sans-serif fonts for clarity.

Visual Layout:

The layouts were designed with a clean, modular structure to create an intuitive browsing experience.

• Homepage: Highlights trending house designs, services, and design experts at a glance, with clear CTAs (e.g., "Explore Home Design").
• Trending House Designs: Provides a detailed, card-based interface for quick comparisons.
• Vastu Consultation & Services: Features a step-by-step guide and a form to streamline the consultation process.

Interaction Design:

Interactive elements, such as hover effects and smooth transitions, were added to enhance user engagement. Features like “Request Modification” and “I’m Interested” buttons simplify decision-making for users.

3. Accessibility & Responsiveness

The design ensures accessibility with a clear visual hierarchy, contrasting colors, and mobile-friendly layouts for a seamless experience across devices.

Key Features Designed:

Explore Trending House Designs:

• Modern, card-based interface with essential details like dimensions, plot orientation, and cost upfront.
• A dedicated detail page showcasing design specifics, floor details, amenities, and drawing offerings.

Explore Services:

• Clear categorization of services like construction consultation, contractor management, and Vastu consultation.
• A detailed consultation page with a user-friendly form and step-by-step instructions for the consultation process.

Expert Profiles:

• Highlighted engineering consultants with their expertise, location, and portfolio details.
• Filters for users to find the right expert for their project.

Newsletter and Tender Updates:

• Encouraged user engagement with a clean newsletter subscription section.
• Regular updates on tenders to keep users informed.

Conclusion:

The redesign of Nakshabazaar’s customer-facing platform was a transformative step toward redefining how users explore and engage with house designs online. By combining a clean, intuitive interface with strategic design elements, the platform now delivers a seamless and enjoyable experience for its customers.
