Industry

I selected the Fitness & Wellness industry because onboarding plays a crucial role in user motivation and retention. Fitness apps must quickly communicate value while keeping the experience simple and inspiring.

Identified Friction Points

  • Too many questions at the start
  • Information overload
  • Forced sign-up before showing value
  • Unclear app benefits
  • Low emotional engagement

Design Goal

To create a quick, intuitive, and motivating onboarding flow that clearly communicates the app’s value while minimizing cognitive load and friction.

Onboarding Structure

The flow consists of 4 screens:

  1. Brand introduction (Splash)
  2. Personalized fitness experience
  3. Smart training & recovery tools
  4. Holistic wellness support

Each screen focuses on one core benefit to keep the experience clear and digestible.

Key Design Decisions

  • Minimal text to reduce cognitive load
  • Strong visual hierarchy with bold headlines
  • Clear CTA buttons for smooth progression
  • Pagination indicators to show progress
  • Full-screen imagery for emotional engagement
  • Large touch-friendly elements following mobile best practices

Usability & Visual Design

The design ensures users can move through onboarding quickly and effortlessly.

A clean layout, strong color contrast, and consistent spacing improve readability and engagement.

Conclusion

This onboarding flow is designed to be simple, motivating, and user-centered — helping users understand the value of FitForge within seconds and encouraging them to start their fitness journey confidently.

Love it!

Thank You.

Hey, 👋😊

The onboarding is clear and well-structured. One benefit per screen is a smart approach that genuinely minimizes cognitive load. Pagination dots and the Skip button are in the right place, so the user feels in control of the flow.

One thing that stands out. The CTA changes its label on every screen (Get Started → Next → Continue). That's an inconsistency that can subtly disorient the user. It's worth unifying the labels or consciously justifying the change. The splash screen is very bare. Just text on a blue background doesn't really build brand identity yet. Consider adding an icon or animation to make that first moment with the app more memorable. 🤔

The stock photos serve their purpose, but they don't set FitForge apart from the competition. Text contrast over the images is fine thanks to the dark overlay, but on the third screen the headline readability drops due to lighter areas in the background.

The brief mentions personalization, but the actual flow doesn't reflect it. In a future iteration, it might be worth adding at least one screen asking about a fitness goal, so the promise of "tailored just for you" is actually backed up. :|

A good start with solid foundations. Polish the CTA consistency and the splash screen, and the onboarding will gain more character and a professional edge. 💪❤️😊
