Barekind - An Ethical and Inclusive E-Commerce underwear site for men
Disclaimer - This is an AI supported design project.
I believe that UX design will no longer occur in environments where AI does not play a role. Therefore my objective is to explore the uses of AI as tools to support designers.
Therefore my intention is to both complete this task utilising AI and to fully outline its use to be transparent, but to also develop my own usage of AI as a design tool.
Summary:
I created a mobile e-commerce website putting the concepts of accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability at the heart of the design. The aim of the project was to use AI to fill in the gaps and act as a tool to guide the layers of design. The final design includes manual amends and changes to the design. The final design aims to reflect the outcome of using Ai tools as means of stepping through the design process.
The process I followed:
1 - Define the Brief
2 - Clarify Evaluation Criteria
3 - Define the brand
4 - Understand Industry Expectations
5 - Define what applies to the brand
6 - Outline the key design considerations
7 - Create first designs
8- Review First designs
9 - Manual design iteration
10 - Summary
Accessibility considerations:
- Colour Contrast meets WCAG AA
- Content Hierarchy (headings and subheadings, expandable sections.
- Prominent key information (Product name, pricing etc)
- High contrast typography
- Large touch targets
- Icons supported by labels
- Image Alt text
Inclusivity considerations:
- Body positivity photography featuring real people
- Various body types and life stages included in images
- Change model allows for the user to pick someone like them rather than just see an unrealistic image.
Sustainability considerations:
- Ethical information prioritised
- Key ethical info at a glance (fare trade, carbon neutral, recycled etc)
- Materials and sustainability information provided
- About the maker information provided
Note - images censored to avoid offending the sensibilities of the online AI moderator.....

Jamie, I think this would make a great video or blog tutorial. For those of us who haven’t fully integrated AI into our workflow (myself included), it’s still a bit unclear what this part means: “The aim of the project was to use AI to fill in the gaps and act as a tool to guide the layers of design.”
I’d love to know which parts did you craft yourself, and where did AI step in to help?
