Passive negative space

Passive negative space is the space between elements — such as text and icons — that helps arrange them in a balanced way. It doesn't act as an element of its own, but rather keeps the composition from appearing too cluttered. Think of passive negative space as oxygen — you don't notice it until there's too little of it.
