Owly Reads is a cozy reading app that helps readers stay consistent, explore books visually and audibly, and share their reading playlists.

It turns reading goals into mindful rituals, creating a calm and connected reading experience.

Owlyread-Reading app 1

To design a meaningful experience, I needed to understand who I was designing for.

Through research and observation, I identified common struggles faced by readers — losing focus, feeling pressured, and lacking community.

This led to defining a user story that represents the core experience Owly Reads aims to improve.

Owlyread-Reading app 2

After defining the idea, I explored common pain points in reading apps — from overwhelming interfaces to lack of real motivation.

Many users felt reading apps turned books into tasks instead of experiences.

I wanted to make reading feel lighter, more human, and emotionally rewarding.

So I focused on short daily goals, cozy visuals, and social sharing through book playlists.

Owly Reads was designed to bring back that quiet joy of reading — one small page at a time.

I learned how to craft effective design prompts through Uxcel’s tutorials, which helped me think more clearly about structure and user emotion.

Then I applied those insights using Uxpilot to create high-fidelity wireframes for Owly Reads.

Each screen focused on calm flow and gentle visuals.

It made the experience feel effortless.

Here are high-fidelity wireframes screens.

Great job. I like mascot

Hey! The project looks really pleasant – the owl with glasses is a strong point, you can immediately feel that "cozy" atmosphere you were going for.

You consistently stick to the color palette and soft, warm layout. Onboarding has a nice flow - from problem through solution to registration. It's clear you understand the user (Amina Noor is a great persona). The reading and listening screens show functionality, and community gives a sense that this isn't just an app, but a place for people.

Summary:

You have a really good foundation – a clear product vision, cohesive visual identity, and genuine understanding of the user's problem.

Owly Reads has the potential to be something people would actually use. Now you just need to tighten the details: refine the missing screens, show the behind-the-scenes work with AI, and close out a complete user flow. With this foundation, you're close to a really solid case study. Good luck! 💪😊

Great project! As someone who enjoys reading, I really like the concept of your app, and you started well by understanding your audience and identifying their pain points. I also love the idea of adding a community space where users can share their progress.

I’d just like to point out a few details to improve the user experience. Since users tend to scan rather than read in apps, I’d suggest making the information more compact and highlighting only the most important parts. For example, headings like “Set goal” and “Weekly progress” could be smaller and paired with icons to make them more playful and intuitive.

I’d also recommend enhancing the gamification aspect, for example, showing achievements as small badges with short titles, and displaying more unlocked badges to motivate users to reach them.

Lastly, I noticed that some layout elements could be more balanced. The fields in the registration form are quite large and take up a lot of space, while the book cards and titles on the dashboard feel a bit too small. You could also move the reading stats higher to motivate users more effectively.

Overall, you’ve built a thoughtful and engaging concept, and just a few visual and structural tweaks could make it even stronger!

Really nice work on this project! Here's some thoughts I have from going through the prototype:

What I love:

  • Being able to see related playlists to a book is a lovely idea — I’m always looking for similar books, so grouping them by vibe is a great touch.
  • The layout feels really clean and I can imagine users really loving the concept.
  • I like that you can set goals by time or pages — it makes reading feel more manageable

Things to think about:

  • The Listen and Download buttons look disabled on the book details screen — you might want to adjust their states so users know they’re active.
  • I like the Discover screen, but I noticed History was selected and didn’t show previously searched books.
  • For form fields, it’s best practice to keep the labels outside rather than inside the fields to improve accessibility and clarity.
  • There are a few prototype issues — On my laptop the flow doesn’t follow how someone would naturally move through the app. Starting with sign-in, then the home page, and guide the viewer through a specific task would make it easier to follow. Also, fixing the bottom bar in place will helpthe prototype feel more realistic.

Overall, this is a thoughtful, well-designed project and I hope you're proud of it! :)

This reading app design feels warm and inviting, with its clean layout and thoughtful attention to user comfort. The interface creates a cozy space for reading and discovery - truly well done! It might be even stronger if the typography hierarchy and contrast were refined a bit more to guide the eye more intuitively through the content. Overall, a lovely, user-friendly concept that shows great potential.

Well-designed Reading App concept.

Your design process is user-centred. The logo looks sympathetic, calm. Gamification elements are incorporated in the design to keep readers motivated. The library design is intuitive as well. Additionally, you articulate clearly about your experience in adopting AI-enhanced design workflow.

Great work!

Would love to see a version of the app where the Owl is integrated into the flow, guiding the user just like a reading companion. The design feels genuinely inviting ... great stuff!

I really like the overall concept making reading feel lighter and more enjoyable is such a relatable goal. The visuals feel calm and inviting, which matches the app’s purpose nicely. The flow between discovery, reading, and sharing feels intuitive, and I appreciate how the designer tied user pain points (like lack of focus or motivation) to clear design decisions. The presentation also communicates the emotional side of reading well, which gives the project a nice storytelling touch.

Thanks for review
