Project Overview

Naksha Bazaar, a Nepali e-commerce platform specializing in house designs and blueprints, approached me to redesign their existing dashboard for engineers (admin users). The primary goal was to create an intuitive and efficient interface that would allow engineers to manage clients, designs, sales, and other administrative tasks seamlessly.

Challenges

  1. Outdated Documentation: The existing system documentation was incomplete and outdated, making it challenging to understand user pain points.
  2. Diverse User Needs: The dashboard needed to accommodate a variety of tasks, such as tracking sales, managing client interactions, and posting new designs.
  3. User Experience Optimization: The interface had to be user-friendly while presenting a large volume of information without overwhelming the user.

Research & Analysis

1. Stakeholder Discussions

  • Collaborated with the Naksha Bazaar team to understand business objectives and engineer workflows.
  • Gained insights into their pain points, especially the inefficiencies in navigating the old system.

2. Wireframes & Lo-Fi Prototypes

  • Analyzed and refined the old wireframes provided by the client.
  • Developed lo-fi wireframes to conceptualize new layouts and workflows, focusing on usability and clarity.

3. Competitive Benchmarking

  • Reviewed dashboards from similar platforms to understand industry standards and identify opportunities for innovation.

Design Goals

  1. Efficiency: Simplify repetitive tasks and reduce time spent on key actions like posting new designs or tracking client progress.
  2. Clarity: Present complex data (e.g., sales, design modifications) in an organized and digestible format.
  3. Scalability: Ensure the dashboard could accommodate future features and user needs and was mobile friendly as well.

2024 | Naksha Bazar: Engineers Dashboard Design 1

Key Features of the Dashboard

1. Dashboard Overview

  • Metrics Display: Showcases key metrics such as total sales, designs uploaded, and client interactions.
  • Graphs: Interactive graphs for tracking design requests, views, and sales trends.

2. Design Management

  • Engineers can upload and manage their house designs easily.
  • Status indicators for designs (e.g., approved, pending).

3. Sales Tracking

  • Detailed breakdown of designs sold, including dates and customer details.
  • Filters for quick access to specific records.

4. Modification Requests

  • Engineers can review and manage client requests for design modifications.
  • Integrated editor for adding notes and updates directly within the dashboard.

5. KYC Form Integration

  • Multi-step form to streamline the collection of client information (personal, contact, address, and employment details).

6. Password Management

  • Secure interface for updating passwords with clear guidelines.

Design Process

1. User-Centered Design

  • Conducted user interviews with engineers to identify workflow bottlenecks.
  • Iterated on designs based on their feedback to ensure alignment with user needs.

2. Visual Design

  • Used a clean and minimalistic design language to reduce cognitive load.
  • Consistent use of colors, typography, and spacing to create a cohesive interface.

3. Interactive Prototypes

  • Created clickable prototypes to demonstrate functionality and gather feedback before final implementation.

Reflection

Working on the Naksha Bazaar dashboard was a rewarding experience, as it allowed me to collaborate closely with stakeholders and create a design that directly addressed their needs. The success of this project reinforced the importance of user-centered design and iterative feedback in crafting effective solutions.
