Airbnb

Airbnb

The primary official Airbnb color Rausch was named after the street where Airbnb started. Before becoming an entrepreneur, the CEO and Co-Founder Brian Chesky and his roommate Joe were the first hosts of Airbnb. To make ends meet and pay the rent, they opened their home on 19 Rausch Street in San Francisco to 3 guests who arrived for a design conference.[1]

The color Rausch symbolizes passion and dedication but without the aggression of red. Their secondary colors are named in honor of geographical locations: Babu (greenish), Arches (bright orange), Hof (dark grey), and Foggy (light gray).

The Airbnb color palette provides a feeling of playfulness and exploration coupled with sophistication. Their primary colors are bright and bold but are used sparingly throughout their product design so they don't overwhelm users.
