Oxide is a category-defining company where you can have real-world impact solving interesting, technically rich problems alongside some of the best across numerous disciplines.

You’ll have a high level of autonomy as the second person on the design team. We care deeply about systems, reliability, and craft across both hardware and software, and we bring that same rigor to how our design shows up in the world.

We’re seeking a designer to work on UI design across our software products, websites, and internal tooling. You’ll shape how customers and Oxide team members interact with infrastructure at the edge of what’s possible, working across a range of surfaces and ensuring everything we ship feels considered, coherent, and crafted. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, often working in the same tools they do.

As a UI Designer, you will:

  • Move fluidly between product UI, websites, and internal tooling
    • Web console: Transform the complexities of cloud infrastructure with a rich and functional interface that delights our customers.
    • Marketing site: Develop copy and visuals together to effectively communicate the value of Oxide.
    • Docs: Shape the documentation experience so technical content is clear, navigable, and consistent with our broader design system.
    • Tooling: Work on tools and systems that improve the way we work and collaborate.
  • Translate complex systems into intuitive user experiences through user flows, designs, and prototypes.
  • Experiment across mediums and interaction types; whether that’s 3D, CLIs, or something we haven’t thought of yet.
  • Use AI tooling (Claude Code, v0, Figma Make, etc.) to rapidly test and demonstrate ideas.
    • Work directly in the codebase, LLM assisted or otherwise.
  • Work closely with colleagues across engineering, support, and sales to anticipate upcoming features and help define the user experience across the API and clients like the web console and CLI.
    • Gather requirements early, share work in progress, discussing how API design might affect usability.

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Have strong UI and product design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating depth in both web and product work.
  • Have excellent visual design skills with obsessive attention to detail, fine interactions, and usability.
  • Have an interest in designing for developers and technical users.
  • Take ownership, move fast, and don’t wait to be told what to do.
  • Think with systems: you design in components, patterns, and scalable workflows.
  • Are comfortable collaborating directly with engineers. Familiarity with code is a strong plus.
  • Embrace the open-source spirit by building transparently, sharing generously, and contributing to something anyone can see and learn from.
