Job Description
Kito Health has developed the Kito Health App which is a free online medical health advice tool that helps parents and caregivers make timely and informed decisions about their child’s symptoms. The app is targeted towards families living in the informal settlements in Nairobi.
Kito Health is looking to enhance the child health advice and content within the Kito Health app through the creation of a ‘Knowledge Base’ - this would be accessible, engaging, and parent-friendly content while keeping simple and understandable to members of the community we are targeting with the Kito Health app.
You will work as an App Designer (UX/UI Designer) closely with our Medical Leads, Social Media team (Kenya & UK), and international App Development team to deliver implementation-ready wireframes for upcoming features, design and prototype the new in-app Knowledge Base, and drive UX workstreams for our app’s product pivot.
Specific Responsibilities
App Design (UI/UX)
- Design user-friendly interfaces and intuitive navigation flows for mobile (Android-first, iOS optional).
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and final visual assets.
- Ensure content is easy to search, browse, and access in both low-bandwidth and offline contexts.
Accessibility & Localization
- Adapt design for multilingual support (English, Kiswahili, and local languages).
- Ensure accessibility for users with varying levels of literacy and digital experience.
Qualifications & Skills
● Experience in UI/UX design, preferably for mobile apps.
● Strong portfolio showcasing app design projects, ideally in health, education, or social impact sectors.

● Understanding of design for low-connectivity and resource-constrained environments.
Commitment:
The project will take place with a minimum of 6 months with a potential to extend. We are expecting individuals to start as soon as possible.
