Workshop Planning for Threads App

Open full project

Earlier, I posted a project focused on creating personas for the Threads app (linked below) outlining the key pain points and goals of different user groups. Building on those personas, this workshop will explore solutions specifically tailored to the needs of content creators using Threads.

Personas for Threads App

Introduction

Workshop Planning for Threads App 1

We’re tackling key usability issues on Threads to help content creators manage social media, track engagement, and improve editing flexibility. This workshop will generate practical solutions to make Threads easier and more effective for creators.

Phase 1 - Introduction & Icebreaker

Workshop Planning for Threads App 2

To kick things off, we start with a simple but powerful icebreaker called "Common Ground." It’s a fun way for everyone to get to know each other and find things in common. The goal is to build connections, so when we dive into the workshop, we’re already comfortable sharing ideas and working together. It sets the stage for a collaborative and open environment where everyone’s input is valuable.

Phase 2 - Setting Context & Understanding the Problems

Workshop Planning for Threads App 3

Next, we set the stage for the workshop by grounding ourselves in the real challenges content creators face on Threads. We start by reviewing key insights from user research and sharing the persona of a typical content creator using the app. This step ensures that every idea we brainstorm is rooted in real user needs and pain points. It’s all about making sure we’re solving the right problems in the right way.

Phase 3 - Brainstorming Solutions for HMW 1

Workshop Planning for Threads App 4

Now, it’s time to get creative! For the first challenge—how to simplify managing multiple social media accounts on Threads—we’ll use a method called Crazy 8s. Each participant gets eight minutes to sketch eight different ideas. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it encourages us to think outside the box. The goal is to generate as many ideas as possible, no matter how big or small, so we can start exploring every possible solution, and at the same time, warm up all the participants to get creative for rest of the session.

Phase 4 - Brainstorming Solutions for HMW 2

Workshop Planning for Threads App 5

Next up, we tackle the challenge of improving real-time engagement tracking on Threads. Here, we’ll use SCAMPER, a creative method that helps us look at existing solutions and ask, "How can we change, combine, or improve them?" By thinking about what could be replaced, combined, or adapted, we’ll come up with fresh ideas that could dramatically improve how creators track their engagement metrics. It’s about reimagining what’s possible with the tools we already have.

Phase 5 - Brainstorming Solutions for HMW 3

Now that we’ve brainstormed ideas for managing accounts and tracking engagement, it’s time to turn our attention to content editing. For the third challenge—how to give creators more flexibility in their editing options on Threads—we’ll use Role Storming. Participants will step into the shoes of different users: content creators, social media managers, and developers. Each person will brainstorm ideas from their assigned perspective, ensuring that the solutions we come up with are as diverse and comprehensive as possible.

Phase 6 - Prioritization of Ideas

Workshop Planning for Threads App 7

With a whole list of potential solutions, the next step is to prioritize. Here, we’ll use the Impact vs. Effort Matrix to decide which ideas are the most valuable and feasible. We’ll plot each idea based on how much impact it will have and how much effort it will take to implement. The goal is to focus on quick wins that will have the biggest effect, while also identifying bigger projects that might take more time but are worth the effort.

Phase 7 - Action Planning & Next Steps

Workshop Planning for Threads App 8

With our top ideas identified, it’s time to turn them into action. In this phase, we’ll break into smaller groups—Design, Development, and Customer Support—and assign specific tasks to each group. We’ll set timelines, clarify responsibilities, and make sure everyone knows what they need to do to move the solutions forward. This is where the workshop’s ideas begin to take shape in the real world.

Closing

Workshop Planning for Threads App 9

Once the workshop wraps up, the real work begins. We’ll document everything: a summary of the goals, key insights, and prioritized ideas. Then, the next step is prototyping—turning those ideas into tangible concepts. After testing and gathering feedback, we’ll refine the solutions to ensure they work. Throughout this process, regular check-ins will keep everyone aligned, and we’ll continue iterating until we’ve successfully implemented the best solutions.

Reviews

Great work, Ahmad! The way you presented a large volume of textual data and information in a clear and comprehensible manner is truly commendable.
