2024 | Ridesharing App Revamp & New Feature Addition
Project Overview
Tootle, one of Nepal's prominent ridesharing platforms, sought to enhance its mobile application with a fresh new look and a valuable new feature: Ride Scheduling. As part of this project, I was responsible for designing both the revamped user interface of the mobile app and a marketing landing page to promote the new feature.
Objective
- To modernize the overall user interface of the mobile app to improve user engagement.
- To introduce a new Ride Scheduling feature, allowing users to book rides in advance.
- To create a visually appealing landing page that promotes brand's unique value proposition and new feature.
Research & Insights
Problem Statement:
The existing app had an old UI/UX, which the stakeholders wanted to reimagine to give it a new look. Additionally, the app lacked a ride scheduling feature, which many users requested for better flexibility and planning.
User Pain Points:
- There was no option to schedule rides in advance, leading to last-minute ride requests.
- The app lacked a strong visual identity to establish brand trust.
Design Process
The project involved two major components:
- Mobile App Revamp
- Marketing Landing Page Design
1. Mobile App Revamp
Key Focus Areas:
- Simplifying the user interface for a better user experience.
- Adding the Ride Scheduling feature seamlessly into the app's existing ride booking flow.
Design Approach:
- I followed a user-centric approach to redesign the Tootle app. The goal was to ensure users could navigate the app easily and find the new Ride Scheduling feature intuitively.
Key Screens Designed:
- Home Screen: Displays the user’s current location, popular destinations, and saved addresses.
- Schedule Ride Flow:
- Users can enter their destination and toggle the "Schedule Your Ride" option.
- They can then select a date and time from a calendar and time picker.
- The interface allows users to add additional destinations or select locations from the map.
UI Enhancements:
- I incorporated Tootle's brand colors to maintain consistency and used modern design elements to make the interface visually appealing.
- The navigation was restructured to make frequently used features more accessible.
Design Highlights:
- Clear call-to-action buttons.
- Intuitive flow for booking and scheduling rides.
- Simplified information architecture.
2. Marketing Landing Page Design
Objective:
To promote Tootle's updated app and the new Ride Scheduling feature, the marketing landing page was designed to highlight key benefits and drive app downloads.
Design Elements:
- Hero Section:
- Headline: “Nepal’s Very Own Ridesharing App!”
- Two call-to-action buttons: “Download Tootle” and “Become Tootle Cap.”
- Statistics Section:
- Highlighting the app’s user base and achievements (e.g., 10.5M+ downloads, 1.5M+ Tootlers).
- Features Section:
- Showcasing the benefits of Tootle Ride and Tootle Drive with engaging visuals and concise content.
- Download Section:
- Users can scan a QR code to download the app directly from the landing page.
- Blog Section:
- Highlighting the latest blog posts to keep users informed about travel and app updates.
- Footer:
- Quick links and contact information for seamless navigation.
UI Enhancements:
- Use of vibrant colors and modern illustrations to create a lively, engaging experience.
- Clear and bold typography to make the content easily readable.
- Interactive elements such as hover effects to improve engagement.
Challenges Faced
- Integration of New Feature: Ensuring that the Ride Scheduling feature fit naturally into the existing app flow without causing confusion.
- Consistent Branding: Maintaining brand consistency while modernizing the app’s look and feel.
- Balancing Functionality and Aesthetics: Ensuring the app was both visually appealing and functional.
Solutions Implemented
- User Flow Optimization: Redesigned the ride booking flow to include the Ride Scheduling option without complicating the process.
- Consistent Design Language: Used Tootle’s brand colors, typography, and design elements consistently across the app and landing page.

Conclusion
The ridesharing app revamp project allowed me to leverage my skills in mobile app design and marketing page creation. By focusing on user needs and modern design principles, I was able to deliver an updated app interface, add a new feature seamlessly, and promotional page that are both functional and visually appealing.
