1. Project Overview

For this project, we optimized push notifications for Lila, an e-commerce platform specializing in Korean & Japanese cosmetics. Our focus was on engaging, concise, and action-driven notifications while ensuring they fit within iOS constraints (no inline CTA buttons).

2. Push Notification Examples & Rationale

A. Abandoned Cart Reminder

📌 Context: Encouraging users to complete their purchase.

🛍️ Forget something?

Your beauty picks are still in your cart! Complete your order before they sell out.

💡 Design Rationale:

  • Conversational & friendly tone avoids sounding too salesy.
  • Subtle urgency encourages immediate action.
  • Tapping the notification leads directly to the cart page.

B. Limited-Time Offer

📌 Context: Driving sales through time-sensitive promotions.

🔥 Flash Sale Alert!

Exclusive 20% off your favorite K-beauty brands—only for the next 3 hours!

💡 Design Rationale:

  • Urgency & exclusivity encourage immediate engagement.
  • Short, direct phrasing ensures easy readability.
  • Tapping leads users straight to the sale page.

C. Order Shipped Update

📌 Context: Keeping users informed about their orders.

📦 Your order is on its way!

Track your Lila order now and see real-time updates.

💡 Design Rationale:

  • Reassures users by confirming shipment.
  • Encourages engagement by leading directly to the tracking page.
  • Keeps language friendly and informative.

D. Back in Stock Notification

📌 Context: Re-engaging users who showed interest in a sold-out product.

✨ It’s back!

That best-selling serum you love is finally restocked—get yours before it’s gone again!

💡 Design Rationale:

  • Creates excitement & urgency using FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).
  • Personalized language makes it feel relevant to the user.
  • Tapping takes users straight to the product page.

E. Personalized Recommendation

📌 Context: Driving engagement through tailored suggestions.

💖 Your beauty match is here!

We found a product you’ll love—based on your recent purchases.

💡 Design Rationale:

  • Personalized, engaging tone boosts relevance.
  • Encourages discovery & browsing without being overly promotional.
  • Tapping leads directly to the recommended product page.

You're off to a great start with these push notifications! They’re clear, engaging, and perfectly in line with Lila’s friendly, beauty-focused brand voice. I love how they’re designed to be scannable, action-driven, and personalized. Each notification serves a clear purpose, whether it’s driving conversions, re-engaging users, or keeping them informed.

That said, there are a few ways you can refine them to boost effectiveness. First, people tend to read headlines first, often skimming over the rest of the text. This means your headlines need to carry the most important information upfront. For example, in the limited-time offer notification, including “20% Off” directly in the headline, rather than just in the body text, would immediately catch users’ attention. Something like “🔥 Flash Sale! 20% Off—Hurry!” makes the offer clear from the start, ensuring users don’t miss it if they only glance at the notification. This applies to other notifications as well, making key details stand out in the first few words increases the chances of engagement.

Additionally, while the calls to action are implied, making them more direct can help drive more taps. Instead of hinting at what users should do, guide them explicitly with phrases like “Tap to check out now” or “Claim your 20% off before time runs out!” Strong verbs help create a sense of urgency and action. Also, the personalization in your recommendation message is a great start, but adding specific product names or past purchases (something like “Because you loved [Product], we think you’ll adore this!”) would make it even more compelling.

Overall, these notifications are already well-crafted, and with a few strategic tweaks, they’ll become even more engaging, scannable, and action-driven.

These push notifications are excellent! Their clear, engaging content aligns perfectly with Lila's friendly, beauty-focused brand. The scannable, action-oriented, and personalized design is a strong point. Each notification has a specific goal: driving sales, re-engaging users, or providing information.

Great work!! I think all your copies align well with the description of the voice of the brand. I think some minor improvements could be made to either shorten the copies or prioritize attractive information in the headlines without losing their essence.

Thank you so much for the kind words!
